VIDEO: Kelly Clarkson Sings A Medley Of Her Songs On 'Ellen,' Reminds Us That She's Amazing

Kelly Clarkson, how we've missed you since you've been... gone! Well, not gone, but we NEED more of you in our lives. Not to be clingy or anything.

The original American Idol was on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" yesterday to sing a medley of her hits from Universal Orlando Resort. Kelly performed her classic "Since U Been Gone," the soaring "Walk Away" and even hearkened back to the days of "Miss Independent" (so underrated!). Kelly rocked out hard, reminding us that even if she's been in and out of the spotlight for a while now, we shouldn't forget about her. And how could we, with that match-in-the-gas-tank voice?

Kelly seems to only sound better and more powerful as she gets older (NOT that you're old, Kelly!) with every new song she releases. And if her performance on "Ellen" is any indication, she's done anything but let us down, only making us all the more excited for her next album, due out this September.

Kelly Clarkson Sings Her Hits on ‘Ellen’

Kelly Clarkson’s decline in popularity is proof-positive that emerging as the winning contestant on “American Idol” does not guarantee that one will go on to have a tremendously succesful recording career. She was fairly popular for a while there, but was quickly replaced by more talented and interesting pop stars like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.

(In this particular genre, the terms “talented” and “interesting” are relative.)

However, according to AOL Music, Clarkson did manage to remind the country that she exists when she performed on “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” yesterday, March 6.

With a fifth studio album on the way, Clarkson performed old hits like “Miss Independent” and “Since U Been Gone.” As big as those songs were when they were first released–it was impossible to walk through the mall without hearing one of them about a dozen times–a lot of us have forgotten about them by this point. But who says it’s too early for nostalgia?

We’re not exactly excited for any new work from Clarkson; she didn’t push any musical boundaries before and there is no reason to expect that she will in the future. While recent “Idol” contestants like Crystal Bowersox have forged unique musical identities of their own, acts like Clarkson give us more of the disposable pop that is clogging the airwaves.

Kelly, since you’ve been gone, well we can kind of breathe. Keep it that way, dear?
